I saw an Instagram post the other day, alluding to the fact that Reiki attunements might be outdated in that they (and you) are able to connect directly with the universal (divine) energy without needing another person's help.

While I agree that we are all being called to create that direct connection (indeed it is necessary and true), there was something about my own attunement experience with Reiki which also provided a different perspective. 

I believe the  process of a Reiki Attunement mirrors the surrender and trust that we must have in order to access the Divine Pathway.

But the question was, "Can you attune to Divine energy by yourself?"

My answer would be an unequivocal, "Of course!"

But...

I feel the Reiki attunement is a very unique way to surrender to another human being in trust and faith that they will support your connection with the Divine.

This adds a rich layer or connection with other human beings and a willingness to open our heart to others.

Building compassion & belief in the necessity of our interconnectedness. 

It is quite an experience to surrender in faith to another human being in this way - often to a stranger that we have not communed with outside the realm of the course/instruction/workshop.
 

There is an aspect of faith and trust here that cannot be achieved alone. It is a deep, abiding trust that another human being will hold you, will support you in this very intimate and spiritually vulnerable act of connection. It is another layer of oneness with all of humanity as well as the greater spirit.

After all, can you believe that a person you may barely know sees the light of the Divine in you!? That no matter what... you are worthy, lovable & capable? 💟

❓When was the last time you allowed someone you hardly know to take you on an inner journey with trust in the process even though you did not know what was happening? LOL!

⚡The Reiki attunement, no matter which system, is a truly unique approach to surrender, trust and faith in one's own capacity to recieve as we are supported and witnessed in the presence of another human being.

And the Reiki protocols themselves are some of the most pure and simple practices I have ever experienced. They work. They work for everyone without imposing belief systems or religious doctrine. No matter how much I learn and grow, I keep coming home to these tools with wonder and deeper understanding.
